Position Summary:
This is a full-time, year-round, live-in, residential position for an individual or couple within a Golf Academy in Ridgefield, Connecticut, serving student-athletes within middle or high school and some post-grads, reporting directly to the on-site Director of Student Life & Academics. The position will work collaboratively with all other advisors, online academic instructors, Academy golf coaches, and GPC staff. It is a unique and engaging role that includes non-traditional hours on a rotating schedule to support student-athletes’ needs, growth, and development. Position requires patience, flexibility, a good sense of humor, sound judgement and personal integrity.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities Include:
● Ensure the safety and well-being of all student-athletes.
● Administrative responsibilities for day-to-day Academic Hours, check-ins, study halls, & weekend activity planning as needed from the Director of Student Life & Academics.
● Advising a small group of student-athletes to help build relationships & goal-set.
● Picking up student-athletes from afternoon golf practice at GPC at set times each day.
● Supervision of Main Campus dining hall, atrium, and tv lounge for all hours of operation. ● Activity & Evening Check-In Management & Supervision (evening check-ins: 8, 9, & 10 Sunday to Thursday and 11pm if working Friday/Saturday)
● Rotating overnights on-call with all other staff in case of emergency.
● Knowledge and understanding of our Student/Parent Handbook in order to assist in holding all student-athletes accountable to rules and regulations as outlined.
● Weekly meetings with the Director of Academics & Student Life.
● Assisting our GPC Hospitality Associates with student-athlete shuttles between sites, airport runs, and local golf tournaments.
● Utilization of our Student Management system for daily and nightly Duty Reports sent to the Director for general information, concerns, maintenance requests, etc. (Full-time Director on-site or on-call for any major concerns or disciplinary issues needed)
● Chaperoning Weekly Program trips, Field Trips, and Academy Spring Training in FL.
● Other duties as assigned by the Director of Academics & Student Life.
Minimum Qualifications:
● Bachelor’s degree or significant relevant work experience.
● Be over 21 Years of Age with a Valid Driver’s License
● Valid driver’s license and comfortable with driving 14 passenger transit vans.
● Ability to set clear expectations and boundaries with teenagers, while maintaining a positive attitude.
● Experience working with student-athletes, ideally in a residential setting.This could include work as a camp counselor, RA, classroom teacher, etc.
● Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
● Organized and detail oriented with high-quality personal management skills.
● Good communication, people management and decision making abilities.
● Ability to complete online duty reports through our Student Management System app.
