The Home Parent (HP) Couple provides direct care services for the children in placement at Presbyterian Children’s Homes and Services.   The HP will provide 24-hour, 7-day-a-week coverage for children placed in a foster group home for extended periods of time.

Within the assigned residence, establish and perpetuate a homelike environment which includes both behavioral and emotional warmth and acceptance. Insure the physical safety and well being of children in agency care and promote their spiritual, emotional, intellectual, and social growth and development.

Supervise daily living habits of children, training new skills as necessary or desirable. Assign, train, and supervise children in household tasks. Supervise children in various activities both on and off the Itasca campus, in cooperation with other staff members, assist in chaperoning or sponsoring off-campus activities.

Plan and supervise preparation of meals served in the residence.

Participate actively in case planning and service implementation for each child living in the assigned area. Maintain daily behavior logs, agency reports, medication documentation, financial records, and reports, and menus of meals served. Provide transportation for children to and from planned activities using agency vehicles, including passenger cars and 15 passenger vans.

Work cooperatively with other staff; participate in campus programs and committees as assigned.

Minimum education - high school graduate, one or more years post high school education preferred. Two years previous experience with children preferred. Competitive salary and benefits.
