FEATURED JOB OPENING: Live-in Motel/Inn Manager Couple - Hood River, OR

We are seeking a dynamic couple to live on-site and oversee all aspects of managing our 22-room motel in beautiful Columbia Gorge area in Oregon. We are wanting to bring on a solid team that will continue the business growth.

Hood River, the windsurfing capital of the world, is located at the panoramic crossroads of  Columbia River Gorge and Cascade Range. It is chock-full of scenic hiking, biking, craft breweries, wineries and much more. A few hours of drive in any direction will find you at Mt. Hood slopes, beautiful city of Portland, Multnomah Falls, Crown point, fruit orchards, and many other points of interest.

Our guests enjoy premium high speed WIFI, cable TV, indoor heated POOL and SPA. While we don't offer some of the higher-end amenities, the rooms and grounds are very clean and well maintained, and we consistently out-perform even the local chain hotels in customer service.

Qualifications

The ideal couple will have hotel/motel management experience and will be well versed with third-party booking sites.

As the grounds will need tending to, one or both of you should have grounds and light maintenance experience. 

A couple who is down to earth would work very well here. This is small tourist town, and the forced corporate customer service is not what we do. We want a couple to come on board who genuinely cares about our staff and guests and will go the extra mile to make their stays memorable. A team that is outgoing and loves to chat it up with guests would be excellent in this position.

The Position

We believe that no job is too small. The ideal team will lead by example in their conversation and work ethic.

The responsibilities of the Manager Couple include but not limited to:

Front desk duties (check in/out, taking payments, printing invoices, etc.).

Completion of weekly deposits, daily reports, and monthly third-party reconciliations. 

Being the first point of contact for guest complaints/concerns, reviews, and online messages.

Oversee, hire, and train front desk and housekeeping staff as needed.

Order/maintain office and operational supplies.

Perform general grounds-keeping to maintain the professional presentation of the property. (Mowing, trimming, snow shoveling, light gardening, etc.)

Carry an on-call phone when office is closed in case of guest emergency (normally a simple lock-out or noise complaint)

Collaborating with the owners and housekeeping team to improve the guest experience.

The Manager's Unit

The managers unit consists of a cozy 1 bed/1 bath with full kitchen and living room. Living room is adjacent to the front office for easy back and forth access. Additional 1 bed/1 bath adjacent to the front office for your overnight guests or fill-in front desk employee.

Compensation

The couple team will earn a combined monthly income of $3,000 to $4,500 (DOE), 50% of your health insurance premium, (Upto $500/mo) and one week paid vacation along with a manager’s unit with all utilities included. In addition, the team that adequately performs their duties, maintains the sales revenue, and completes their contract term of 1 year will receive a combined year-end bonus of $5,000. At that point, we'd love to have you stay on board and you're welcome to renew your contract for another year.
