Historic St. Mary’s City Museum is currently seeking qualified candidates for an Innkeeper position for The Brome-Howard Inn, located on the Western Shore of Maryland. The Inn is owned and operated by the Historic St. Mary’s City Commission, an independent agency of the State of Maryland. The Inn located on a beautiful waterfront site on the St. Mary’s River features 4 guestrooms. The Inn is an exclusive getaway for guests, and hosts more than a dozen weddings a year.
The Inn supports the museum’s operations and the Innkeeper (or couple) is therefore an essential part of the museum’s management team. He/she is responsible for assuring that all guests have positive and memorable stay at our charming, historic Inn. This position will support the day-to-day operations which include guest services, reservations, housekeeping, and site rental management. Innkeeper will work with the Museum’s Director of Marketing and the Facilities &Events Manager to develop packages and coordinate marketing, weddings, and events. He/she will facilitate food & beverage service with the Museum’s food service management firm.
The ideal applicant for this position is customer-service oriented, courteous, energetic, self-motivated, and able to work with little or no supervision. The applicant will also need to be a team player, who is willing to take on any task that needs attention. Qualified candidates will have a high level of service orientation, excellent communication skills, be detail orientated, able to multi-task, proficient in use of computers, and have a passion and drive for excellence. 3-5 years of experience in hospitality strongly preferred. The position is full-time contractual; does not include health or retirement benefits. Compensation includes a rent-free apartment at the Inn with utilities provided; salary is based on experience; approximately $20,000 - $30,000/year with two weeks paid vacation.
