FEATURED JOB OPENING: Fun-Loving Couple Wanted to Manage Mountain Motel - Rifle, CO

Overview

We are seeking a dynamic couple to live on-site and oversee all aspects of managing our 19-room motel in rural Colorado. The rooms and grounds have undergone extensive refurbishments in recent years and we're wanting to bring on a solid team that will continue this growth. Our current management team is moving on January 15, 2022, so an ideal start date for the new team to begin training would be January 1, 2022.

Our guests enjoy premium high speed WIFI, cable TV, and a light grab & go breakfast. While we don't offer some of the higher-end amenities, the rooms and grounds are clean, and we consistently out-perform even the local chain hotels in customer service. Who You Are

The ideal couple will have hotel/motel management experience and will be well versed with third-party booking sites.

As the grounds will need tending to, one or both of you should have grounds and light maintenance experience. 

A couple who is down to earth would work very well here. This is rural Colorado, and the forced corporate customer service is not what we do. We want a couple to come on board who genuinely cares about our staff and guests and will go the extra mile to make their stays memorable. A team that is outgoing and loves to chat it up with guests would be excellent in this position.

The Position

We believe that no job is too small. The ideal team will lead by example in their conversation and work ethic.

The responsibilities of the Manager Couple include:

• Front desk duties (check in/out, taking payments, printing invoices, etc.).
• Completion of weekly deposits, daily reports, and monthly third-party reconciliations. 
• Being the first point of contact for guest complaints/concerns, reviews, and online messages.
• Oversee, hire and train front desk and housekeeping staff as needed.
• Order / maintain office and breakfast supplies.
• Perform general grounds-keeping to maintain the professional presentation of the property. (Mowing, trimming, snow shoveling, light gardening, etc.)
• Carry an on-call phone when office is closed in case of guest emergency (normally a simple lock-out or noise complaint)
• Collaborating with the owners and housekeeping team to improve the guest experience.

The Manager's Unit

The managers unit consists of a cozy 1 bed/1 bath with full kitchen and living room. The kitchen is adjacent to a guest room and the living room is adjacent to the front office for easy back and forth access. 

Oil heaters are provided to keep things warm in the colder months and we provide a portable A/C unit to keep the space cool in the summer months.

The Area

Rifle is in the heart of the Western Slope and opportunities abound for white-water rafting, hiking, hot springs, cave exploring, snowboarding, and much more. A few hours’ drive in any direction will find you at Dinosaur National Monument, Arches National Park, Mese Verde, Canyonlands, Black Canyon, and many other points of interest.

Compensation

The couple team will earn a combined monthly income of $3,000 (gross) for their managerial duties along with a managers' unit with all utiltities included. In addition, the team that adequately performs their duties and completes their contract term of 1 year will receive a combined year-end bonus of $1,000. At that point, we'd love to have you stay on board and you're welcome to renew your contract for another year.
