FEATURED JOB OPENING: Domestic Couple Needed For Large Estate/Horse Property - Camas, WA

Seeking caretaker/housekeeper couple for a long term position on a 15 acre private horse property located in Camas, WA. 3 bedroom/2 bath above barn home, all utilities included. Job is 5-7 days a week, hours vary. Persons are in charge of groundskeeping, facilities maintenance and housekeeping as well as the care and feeding of two Friesian horses, chickens and indoor pets. We maintain our property to the highest standard and expect the same from you.

Year round maintenance of extensive, mature landscaping with a large variety of plants, fruit trees, berries, etc. This aspect of the job will require the majority of your time. It’s very important that you have a comprehensive knowledge of plants and gardening. Master gardener level preferred.

Must be able to lift 50+ lbs.

A basic knowledge of equine health and care. Riding experience a plus. Exercising horses, daily mucking of stalls and pasture clean up, maintaining and fixing fencing, confidently pull horse trailer, load hay bales, and administering medication. 

Other skills needed:

Ability to operate snow plow and blower, tractor, power tools, construction equipment, ATV, shovel snow and some machinery maintenance. Access to property vehicles is included. 

Must have planning and organizational skills to implement and maintain procedures to meet the requirements of ongoing maintenance, landscaping and cleanliness. Must be able to manage entire property for weeks at a time when owners are away. It’s important that you work well together as a team as well as individually. 5-10 years experience is preferred. 

This is a hard job but also has lots of flexibility, free time and perks.

Salary is based on experience and skills. Vacation pay and cash bonuses after 6 months of satisfactory performance. Health stipend after one year of employment.

Property description:

Location: Rural Camas, Wa, Cascade foothills abutting public land, national forest. 20 minutes drive to Camas, WA, 30 minutes drive to Portland, OR/Vancouver, WA

Property size: 15 acres of mature landscaping, swimming pool, lake, horse grazing pastures, outdoor horse arena.

Structures:

6,000 sf main residence

8,000 sf shop that includes vehicle storage, 1000 sf one bedroom guest apartment, 1000 sf gym, 1200 sf workshop

1,500 sf swimming pool house includes boilers for heating pool, driveway, 80kw generator, storage of 4000 gallons diesel fuel.

2,400 sf four stall barn with 2400 sf three bedroom caretakers quarters above

500 sf pond house (guest house)

400 sf garden shed with attached chicken coop

2,600 sf greenhouse

General Duties:

Housekeeping: maintain structures for guest readiness at all times

Groundskeeping: maintain for guest readiness at all times. Master gardener preferred.

General facilities maintenance

Pasture management: grazing, growing rotation

Equine care and related: two Friesians

Snow removal

Coordinate with contractors/vendors as needed

Groundskeeping seasonal duties include but are not limited to:

Fall:

Winterizing irrigation, fire sprinklers

Fertilizer, lime pastures, lawn

Prune landscaping

Leaf removal, gutter cleaning

Horses boarded at different location until late Spring

Store patio furniture 

Winter:

Snow removal

Storm debris removal

Holiday decor. 

Spring:

Fertilize

Irrigation test, repair

Mowing/blowing

Weed control

Pruning

Prep for horses returning

Pressure wash pool deck, balconies, patios

Put out outdoor furniture

Summer:

Mowing

Pruning

Pasture management, rotation, weed control

Firefighting preparation

New, upscale fully furnished three bedroom 2400 sf home with en-suite main bath and walk in closet, office, large kitchen/dining/family room. Second full bath serves two small bedrooms and remaining accommodations. Air conditioned. Wood stove. All utilities, high speed internet, etc… included
