FEATURED JOB OPENING: Culinary/ Kitchen Couple - with some Housekeeping - Big Sur, CA

Looking for a bold, hard working couple to join our full time team of 25 employees, we offer small on property tiny houses at highly subsidized rents. .

Successfully hired couple will work in the kitchen. One person doing sous, garde mange, prep 5 nites a week. The other person works in houskeeping as well as Breakfast barrista, and some laundry or deep clean work.

We realize that a move in order to live and work someplace new is expensive and so we offer some help in the form of a $500 bonus each to assist with gas/travel/ move  expenses. Paid out after one full month employment.

Individuals who have outdoor  interests like hiking, photography and beach combing will appreciate the quiet 'down time' this also affords..as well as 'indoor' pastimes like crafting, art, reading...during the darker longer evenings. (nearest grocery store is 45 minutes drive down the coast)

START DATE: August 10, 2022 (or before )

LENGTH Of COMMITMENT: This is a seasonal job ~ the Season runs until December 21,2022. We ask for a two season commitment. Next season begins on or around Valentines Day 2023. (During the close down period our team is furlowed and so can legitimately apply for unemployment  and we do not charge the rent during that time if they are returning for the following season..

Kitchen duties more specifically:

Breakfast set up, propagation and breakfdown, clean up and set up next person for success.

Sous, prep, cold station, working the line, nightly close down & set up nexxt person for success, complete checklists , prep lists as outlined by Chef and kitchen deep cleans

(We have a small kitchen but it works well....at night there is three people in the kitchen: Chef, Sous/line cook, and dishwasher).

In Houskeeping more specifically:

Daiily clean routines of yurts and other rooms and restrooms:

 Restrooms

 Deep cleaning Yurts & Restrooms

 restocking, ordering supplies, organizing supplies

.

Must be willing to:

work outdoors in all types of weather and inside units that can get hot inside depending on season (for housekeeping)

 Stand on concrete kithcen floor for 5-8 hour shifts in Kitchen.

Lift up to 25 lb, using proper bending and lifting techniques

Lift & carry vacuums, trash cans propane tanks, brooms, ladders, bags of linen, caddies of supplies, bus trays full of dishes

You will  each be  scheduled to work four or five consecutive days,  shifts about  5-8 hours per day depending on the shift assigned . At least one of your days off will be the same day together...we attempt to give both days off together for a couple but sometimes it may not be possible right from the beginning.

Your daily schedule may not be 'synchromized' all days:...meaning one person may work AM shifts some of the time..the other might be scheduled to do some PM shifts...we try to have shifts line up as much as possible

 Must have reliable transportation.

Compensation: $16.50/hour  to start and train

Housing: The housing is a unique studio with full kitchen, full bath and a loft queen-size bed. Kitchen has a cooktop/full oven, full size fridge.

Rent is : $250 each and includes all utilites ~ water, gas, power, sewer  (wifi not included)

Wifi is limited, (TIP: most of our  full time, long term staff rent their own Satellite dish for internet, alot of them also order NETFLIX to watch on TV for those darker winter nites) .

Most cell phones do not work here! There is an office phone for quick calls and a payphone outside the lodge.

NO pets, sorry!

Housing is not able to accommodate children...it is workforce housing, meaning everyone living here must be employed and working. Please do not apply with children.
