FEATURED JOB OPENING: Awesome Resort Manager and Cook Team Wanted in Central Idaho - Kooskia, Idaho on the Clearwater River, ID
WHY DO WE SHOW EXPIRED LISTINGS?
We are seeking an exceptional, positive, energetic, capable, couple with an enthusiastic guest service ethic and previous resort or lodge experience!
Located in central Idaho on the Clearwater River, the River Dance Lodge is looking for a couple one of whom would be our cook and the other the general manager. Our season is mid-April to mid-October making the perfect complement to the ski season. We have 8 hand-crafted log cabins along with three glamping tents that together, accommodate a total of 40-50 people. Our restaurant seats 60 and serves resort guests, locals and highway travelers. Mediterranean and healthy cuisine is our focus. There is an on-site rafting company and the area is an outdoor paradise. We are seeking people with at least two years resort management experience, and a cook with at least four years restaurant experience. You should be excellent team players, self-motivated and ready to provide superlative guest service. We practice a strong environmental/ green ethic in our business. We hope to find someone who will return for many happy years.
The season starts with just the manager and cook working, so you need to be a person who has a strong work ethic and will do housekeeping and all else required to get the job done. This is not a desk job. As the season gets busier we add help ultimately building to a team of five. One is a groundskeeper/ maintenance man who has been with us about five years and will start in April. Another is a part time cook who lives next door who starts early to mid-May. Another is a housekeeper and/or lodge/restaurant helper who starts late May. Then there is an additional staff of three who lead our guided activities and also help with serving and housekeeping. They rotate these responsibilities. As the season slows down we reduce our staff again, leaving just the manager and cook in the last couple of weeks.
We offer all-inclusive packages that include lodging, meals and activities. Most evening meals are lodge guests although we are open to the public with a set menu and by reservation only. The same is true for breakfast. We are open to the general public during the day from about 9am to 5pm with a very simple and limited menu, pie, coffee, etc. since we are located on a highway and people stop in to eat. The cafe building has been there since 1962 so is a local landmark.
The restaurant requires someone with previous restaurant cooking experience. It's not enough to say you cook for friends or at hunting camps. On the weekends we have a nice, but limited menu, and a person needs to have experience with line cooking and juggling different menu selections for a full restaurant.
From May to early July the lodge is headquarters for class IV rafting trips on the Lochsa River and weekends are very busy. The restaurant provides the lunches for the rafting trips which can be for 10 to 60 people. That busy season ends around mid-June. We also host weddings and have a few lined up for the 2013 season.
These are demanding jobs that require long hours. The nearest town is 16 miles away so you also have to be happy in a remote setting. The place is gorgeous, but this is no summer vacation! You must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, stand on your feet long hours, etc.
The owners live about four hours away in Coeur d'Alene, and the lodge is located in central Idaho on the Clearwater River. We are looking for a solid team that is trustworthy and capable.
