Couple to run Beach Fitness Retreat in Sri Lanka - General Manager needed in tropical paradise (Fitness trainer a bonus!) - Sri Lanka

Seeking self-starter couple to manage our fitness beach camp in the paradise of Sri Lanka. 

Situated in the untouched beach paradise of Kalpitiya in Sri Lanka, we are a rustic fitness camp set amidst beautiful exotic gardens and lagoons with access to a well-equipped strength & conditioning beach gym, coworking space and cafe serving some of the best coffee and food in the area.

The location is ideal for a fitness couple looking for chilled vibes and to embrace the slow island life in a tropical beachside location. Kalpitiya is a mecca for kitesurfers and so if you wish to learn or already a lover of the sport, this really is a paradise spot for you.

Who we are looking for:

We are looking for a proactive, positive and enthusiastic couple to take over the overall running of the business including but not limited to managing bookings, social media, customer service, daily costings and purchasing, repairs and maintenance, and staff. People who are willing to get their hands dirty (not in the kitchen of course!) and always look to new ideas, whether training the local staff to develop their hospitality skills, engaging social media campaigns, promotion of the gym to guests in the area, taking gym clients for guided bicycle or kayak trips etc. 

Due to the laidback lifestyle in Kalpitiya, we need a couple who are self-motivators, hardworking and enjoy the slow life as it can be extremely chilled on the beach here! 

Daily tasks might include:

• Customer service - assist our guests ensuring their experience with us is on brand whether in the cafe, gym or coworking space. Booking airport transfers, welcoming the guest on arrival, join for meals, help arrange trips and additional activities, schedule their programmes, track classes etc. 
• Own the schedule - arrange activities i.e. movie nights, workshops, excursions etc., book massages, PT etc. 
• Help with cost recording, specials board and budgeting in the cafe
• Staff Management - training, management, supervision (4 staff members)
• Day to day accounts management and book keeping
• Assisting in the cafe when busy including making smoothies, juices and coffees
• Reporting to the owner of the business
• Manage bookings (shared with Director)
• Social media posts and stories - or manage volunteer to do this
• Working closely with our accommodation partners to ensure the best experience for our customers
• Ensure the space is well maintained, clean and safe
• If qualified: 
  • Personal Training sessions (not essential but preferred)
  • Assist in group gym classes
  • Take goal setting and habit setting workshops

In exchange we will provide accommodation with private room, free access to the gym and a basic salary to cover food and simple living expenses. 50% commission is offered on all personal training sessions and gym classes. 50% discount on the food in the cafe.

Hours are normally 6 hours a day, 6 days a week (although this is flexible due to low seasons and high season). You will acrue 1.25 days of holiday per month of employment. We may ask that your days off are seperate to ensure we have enough cover in the cafe and gym, but this is not set in stone.

The café and gym are very chill and so you will not be rushed off your feet all the time. Plenty of down time to go for swims, chat, read, chill, kitesurf or do your own training in the gym.

We are still a relatively new business operating in a developing country, so I have my hands tied somewhat regarding salary. I guess what we lack in financials we can give in paradise and a lowcost, easy, beach living! You will be able to save each month (depending on how much you spend in the bar...) plus have the chance to grow with us. After 12 months, we will discuss share options in the business as well as bonus schemes. 

You will be reporting to the business owner who's main responsibility is the marketing of the business and overseeing its general direction. 

We need people who can commit to 12 months starting ideally June 2023, including a 6 months trial period.
