Duration:
This is a part-time seasonal position with primary duty responsibilities during the dates the campground
is open, generally May – November, weather permitting. The duration of this position is also dependent
upon campground bookings.
Location:
Lake Creek Youth Recreational Campground is located in Logan Valley in Grant County, Oregon. The
campground is in a remote location and does not have internet service available. The Cook is required
to be at the campground weekly as needed to successfully complete the responsibilities of the position.
Position Purpose:
The Cook oversees all aspects of food preparation and safety. Campground bookings vary on the
number of people and the number of meals required based on guest contract. Up to 3 meals per day
may be provided to up to as many as 120 guests.
Essential Job Functions:
Maintain a neat, clean, professional appearance with camp provided shirts
Meet employee handbook standards of cleanliness in the kitchen
Maintain Safe food handling practices at all times
Plan a menu/food map according to employee handbook guidelines
Maintain a suitable food inventory
Order food and receive freight deliveries with Camp Coordinator approval
Manage proper use, cleaning, and storage of kitchen equipment
Keep the Camp Coordinator informed of any safety risks or unsafe conditions
Be familiar with and prepared for all emergency procedures
Adhere to standards of conduct (set by the Board of Directors) and camp policies and
procedures
Other Job Duties:
The Cook may be required to perform tasks outside of the essential job functions as needed.
Relationships:
The Cook oversees and assigns the duties of the Prep Cook. Human resource issues are to be reported to
the Camp Coordinator. If tasks become overwhelming the Cook should alert the Camp Coordinator for
assistance.

Qualifications and Certifications:
Oregon Food Handler’s Card (required and paid if needed)
First aid certification (required and paid if needed)
Proof of successful completion of Serve Safe Course (required and paid if needed)
Current driver’s license and proof of vehicle insurance
Must pass a background check
Basic computer skills are necessary
Experience cooking for groups ranging in size from 20 to 200
Must be able to work respectfully with diverse groups
Must be a team player
Must be able to adapt to changing needs and deadlines
Be able to make independent and logical decisions
Be able to demonstrate a knowledge of kitchen safety hazards and precautions
Must be neat, punctual and have an eye for detail.
Physical Aspects of the Job:
Must be able to lift 30lbs and work up to 14hours/day on feet with potential unscheduled breaks. The
job also requires bending, squatting, twisting, and reaching.
Pay:
Negotiable based on experience and education.
Housing:
There is a cabin or camp trailer on camp property for the Cook to stay in, rent free. Cleaning deposit
required.

it is ready for guests.

Maintain Safe food handling practices at all times
Prep food under the direction of the cook
Keep the dining room ready for guests
Serves food to guests
Use, clean, and store kitchen equipment properly
Help maintain and organize food inventory
Help receive freight deliveries
Keep a log of the dishwasher temperature
Be familiar with and prepared for all emergency procedures
Adhere to standards of conduct (set by the Board of Directors) and camp policies and
procedures
