About the Role:

We are seeking a responsible, experienced, and hands-on Caretaker and Estate Manager to oversee the daily operations, maintenance, and security of Château de la Brosse, a beautiful historic estate nestled in the heart of the French countryside.

This is a unique opportunity for a proactive individual or couple to live and work on-site in a charming and tranquil setting, with responsibility for maintaining the château, its grounds, and associated buildings year-round.

Key Responsibilities:

Day-to-day management of the château and estate buildings

General maintenance, basic repairs, and liaising with contractors

Garden and grounds upkeep, including lawn care, trees, hedges, and pathways

Oversight of utilities, heating systems, and waste management

Managing guest arrivals if applicable (e.g., during rental periods or family visits)

Providing security and surveillance of the property

Occasional driving, errands, and assistance with local administration

Ensuring the estate presents an immaculate and welcoming appearance at all times

The Ideal Candidate(s):

Prior experience in estate management, caretaking, or similar roles

Handy with tools and practical maintenance skills

Self-motivated and highly reliable, able to work independently

Comfortable with rural living and managing a large property

Fluent or conversational French is a strong advantage

EU citizenship or valid French work permit required

A couple is welcome to apply (with a split in roles, e.g., one focusing on gardening/maintenance, the other on housekeeping/admin)
